Maharashtra BMC Elections 2026: Akshay Kumar Arrives FIRST To Cast Vote

Bollywood star Akshay Kumar visited his polling station at Gandhi Shikshan Bhavan in Juhu early this morning to cast his vote. Encouraging Mumbaikars to participate in the democratic process, he emphasised that the power to shape the city’s future lies with its citizens.

Akshay Kumar Arrives FIRST To Cast Vote

Today marked the start of polling across 29 civic bodies in Maharashtra, including the highly significant BMC elections. “Today, the voting for BMC is taking place. As Mumbaikars, we have the remote control with us today. I would request all the people of Mumbai to come out in large numbers and cast their votes. If we have to be the real hero of Mumbai, we shouldn’t do dialoguebaazi, instead come out and cast our votes,” he was quoted to ANI.

Kumar appealed to everyone, saying, “I request all Mumbaikars to come out in large numbers and cast their votes,” highlighting the importance of high voter turnout amid the festive atmosphere of polling day. Akshay urged voters to move beyond rhetoric and actively exercise their right to vote. “If we want to be the true heroes of Mumbai, we shouldn’t just talk about it; we need to come out and vote,” he said.

While he was leaving the ballot, a young girl pleaded for help as her father was in debt. Akshay, being a big-hearted person, immediately suggested that she give her number to his security.

About Maharashtra BMC Elections 2026

Polling for the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections commenced at 7:30 am on Thursday, January 15, 2026. Several prominent figures were setting an important tone for this crucial civic exercise after nearly four years. The election aims to fill 227 corporator seats, with approximately 1,700 candidates competing and over 1.03 crore voters participating. To facilitate maximum participation, the Maharashtra government declared a public holiday, allowing more citizens to vote during the day.

The polling process is being closely guarded, with over 28,000 police personnel deployed across Mumbai to ensure security. Voting will continue until 5:30 pm, after which the EVMs will be moved to secure locations. The counting of votes is scheduled for January 16, with results expected later that evening.
