Malaika Arora made heads turn with her performance in the song Chaiyya Chaiyya alongside Shah Rukh Khan. The actress won hearts and praise for her performance. After Farah Khan made an interesting revelation about Shilpa Shirodkar being approached for Chaiyya Chaiyya before Malaika Arora, the actress shared the reason behind it all.

On the Moving In With Malaika, Farah Khan made a candid appearance. During the show, Farah and Malaika discussed their long bond of over 24 years, from the shooting of Chaiyya Chaiyya. Khan, during the show revealed how Shilpa Shirodkar, Shilpa Shetty and a few other actresses were approached for the song before Malaika Arora.

Reacting to the same, Shilpa told ETimes, “I was considered for Chaiyya Chaiyya. But apparently, they thought I was too fat so they offered it to Malaika. I feel sad that I didn’t get a chance to do this iconic number, but I guess it is all destiny.”

The actress further shared how she was disappointed to miss a chance of working with Shah Rukh Khan in Chaiyya Chaiyya. She said, “Obviously, it was disappointing, but then I got the privilege of sharing screen space with him in Gaja Gamini for just one scene. So my dream came true.”

For the unversed, on Moving in With Malaika, Farah Khan told Arora, “You’re the Chaiyya Chaiyya girl. But luckily for you, some five heroines had refused to climb on the train. Malaika was nowhere on the radar. We approached Shilpa Shetty Kundra, Shilpa Shirodkar, and 2-3 other people.” The filmmaker even shared how some of the actresses who were approached were either not available or had a phobia of trains.

Meanwhile, the song Chaiyya Chaiyya from the Mani Ratnam directorial Dil Se, featured Shah Rukh Khan and Malaika Arora dancing on a moving train with some background dances. Arora’s appearance in the song got her immense fame.

Moving In With Malaika started streaming on Disney+ Hotstar from December 5 onwards.
