Manoj Bajpayee Breaks Silence On Neeraj Pandey’s Ghooskhor Pandat Title Controversy; Says, “It’s Not A Statement On Any Community”

After director Neeraj Pandey and lead actor Manoj Bajpayee addressed the controversy surrounding their film, Ghooskhor Pandat Title Controversy. Following Netflix India’s announcement of its 2026 slate of web series and films, one project drew significant criticism. An FIR was filed against the makers of Ghooskhor Pandat for allegedly offending sentiments with its title and content. Manoj Bajpayee spoke out publicly, emphasising that his intentions were not to cause harm.

Bajpayee stated, “I respect the emotions and concerns people have shared, and I take them seriously. When something you are part of causes hurt to some, it makes you pause and listen.” He further clarified that his role was not intended to offend any community.

Manojexplained, “As an actor, I approach a film through the character and story I am portraying. This was about depicting a flawed individual on a journey of self-realisation, not making a statement about any community.”

He also praised director Neeraj Pandey’s careful approach to filmmaking. He said, “In my experience working with Neeraj Pandey, there has always been a sense of seriousness and care in how he handles his projects.”

Bajpayee added that the decision to remove promotional material reflects the gravity of the situation. He said, “The filmmakers have decided to take down the promotional material for now, in light of public sentiment. This shows how seriously the concerns are being taken.”

Neeraj Pandey Issues Statement

Neeraj Pandey also issued a statement, asserting that Ghooskhor Pandat is a fictional story with no connection to any caste or community. He acknowledged that the film’s title upset some viewers and reiterated that all promotional content has been withdrawn. Pandey explained that the film is a fictional cop drama. The name Pandat is simply a colloquial term for a character within the story.
