Manoj Bajpayee led Netflix film, Ghooskhor Pandat, sparked controversy shortly after its teaser was unveiled on February 3 during a Netflix event. While the teaser depicts Manoj as a morally compromised police officer embroiled in corruption and conspiracy, it is the film’s title—rather than its storyline—that has ignited a fierce online backlash. Several social media users have criticised the title as casteist, accusing the makers and Netflix of targeting a specific community, and are demanding either a name change or a boycott of the film.
Manoj Bajpayee Led Ghooskhor Pandat Faces Backlash Over Title Reveal
The teaser shows Manoj Bajpayee portraying Ajay Dikshit, a corrupt cop caught in a global conspiracy. Following its release, social media was flooded with criticism and calls for action against Netflix. One user tweeted, “Hello @NetflixIndia, normalisation of hatred against Pandits & Brahmins won’t be tolerated. I’ll see you in court.” Another commented, “The name of this movie is highly objectionable. Can Netflix name a movie as ‘Ghooskhor Dalit’ or ‘Ghooskhor Muslim’? Change it ASAP!”

You given name Ghooskhor Pandit, do you have guts to put Ghooskhor muslim on any of your webseries?

Others expressed stronger sentiments, with one remarking, “Absolutely shameful. They’ve chosen a community that is a soft target to spread their bigotry. Change it now or face a ban.” An X user warned Netflix, “Hello @NetflixIndia, you’ve named it Ghooskhor Pandit. Do you have the guts to include ‘Ghooskhor Muslim’ in your series? Remove this title or prepare for a mass boycott.”

Another post stated, “They could have named this show anything, but they specifically chose this to push a certain narrative. How is that acceptable? Maybe we should start boycotting to teach them a lesson.”
As of now, neither Netflix nor the Ghooskhor Pandat team has issued an official response to the controversy.
