Released on Friday, January 30, Rani Mukerji-led Mardaani 3 has been doing well at the box office. However, over the last couple of days, the makers were accused of running a paid PR campaign to promote the film through the reports of missing people in the national capital. Now, the movie’s production house – Yash Raj Films (YRF), have released a statement denying the allegations levelled against them. Read on to know what their spokesperson said.
YRF Reacts To Claims Of Mardaani 3 Using Delhi’s Missing Girls Reports For Promotions
For t he unversed, on Friday, February 6, the Delhi Police took to their X (formerly Twitter) handle, and wrote, “After following a few leads, we discovered that the hype around the surge in missing girls in Delhi is being pushed through paid promotion. Creating panic for monetary gains won’t be tolerated, and we’ll take strict action against such individuals”.
In response to this claim, a YRF spokesperson told IANS, “Yash Raj Films is a 50-year-old company founded on the core principles of being highly ethical and transparent. We strongly deny the accusations floating on social media that Mardaani 3’s promotional campaign has deliberately sensationalised a sensitive issue like this, and we have immense trust in our authorities that they will share all facts and truths in due course of time”.
Missing People Reports In India
Talking about the accusations being levelled against the makers of the Rani Mukerji starrer, it was earlier reported that the Delhi Police recorded 807 people reported missing this year. This averaged to about 54 cases per day, with 509 women & girls and 298 men being reported missing. Out of the 800+ missing individuals, 191 were said to be minors, while the remaining 616 were adults. While the police revealed they had traced 235 individuals, 572 cases remained untraced in that period.
As per reports, in 2025, over 24,500 people were reported missing, with women accounting for more than 60 per cent of cases. Of these, more than 9,000 cases remained unresolved till December 31. Despite public concern over these numbers, the Delhi Police clarified that there is no significant surge in 2026 cases compared with previous years’ monthly averages (around 2,000 per month). They noted that the overall trend has been relatively stable.
