Aditya Dhar’s espionage thriller Dhurandhar has taken over the internet and how. Starring Ranveer Singh, Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, R Madhavan, Rakesh Bedi and Sara Arjun in pivotal roles, the film is being immensely loved by the public and it’s box office numbers reflect it. For the unversed, the action spy thriller – which draws inspiration from real-life events involving geopolitical tensions and covert operations conducted by India’s R&AW, has entered the coveted Rs 200 crore domestically and the Rs 300 crore club globally with just its Week 1 collection.

However, which audiences are heading to theatres to watch the actioner twice and trice, a section has been labeling the Aditya Dhar directorial as a propaganda film. While millions are praising the film, its narrative and the performances in it, others are calling it Islamophobic and lots more. Now, acclaimed Bollywood casting director Mukesh Chhabra – who is also the man responsible for the impecable casting for Dhurandhar, has responded to the allegation.

Mukesh Chhabra On Dhurandhar Being Labelled A ‘Propaganda Film

Reacting to the movie being called propaganda, Mukesh Chhabra told The Free Press Journal, “I just love working, I love cinema. I don’t work with so many opinions. When I like a film, and I have to create the world (casting), I will do it. I will do all kinds of movies; I will do a kids’ film like Chillar Party, and I will work on a film like Gangs of Wasseypur as well.”

The acclaimed casting director continued, “I just love casting actors and creating a world. I see cinema as cinema. I just follow my instinct. Whoever is saying that (it is a propaganda film), many others are answering them. So, that will keep on happening. I am only worried about the actors, the film, and the director I am working with. I don’t want to think about anything else.”

Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, R. Madhavan, Arjun Rampal and Rakesh Bedi. Debutant Sara Arjun also plays a pivotal part in the narrative.

Giving the film a 4-star rating, Bollywood Bubble wrote in its review, “Ranveer has undoubtedly delivered one of his career-best performance to date. He’s raw, gritty, and explosively powerful, and deserves tons of love and accolades for it.” It also told its readers, “Dhurandhar is worth a watch as it not only has some of Bollywood’s best actors delivering top-notch performances, but it’s a also a patriotic film that honours and celebrates the unknown and unsung heroes who willingly enter the most dangerous of situations in order to make sure the nation is safe.
