When Kalki 2898 AD was released, the ambitious sci-fi spectacle generated massive buzz not only for its scale and star-studded cast but also for its reported budget and paycheques. The film featured some of the biggest names in Indian cinema, including Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, and Kamal Haasan and Amitabh Bachchan. However, according to a recent claim by actor and producer Yugi Sethu, the highest-paid actor in the film may not be who most people expect.
Who Was The Highest Paid Actor In Kalki 2898 AD?
In an interview with Indiaglitz, Yugi spoke about Kamal Haasan’s role in the Nag Ashwin directorial. And revealed that the veteran star commanded a staggering fee for his brief but impactful appearance in the film. Yugi revealed Kamal Haasan was paid Rs 150 crore for his role in the sci-fi epic.“Kamal sir’s stature is such. He is getting paid Rs 150 crore for 20 days of the call sheet for Kalki 2898 AD. I told him on his birthday that he is the highest-paid actor in India and is getting $1 million per day,” Yugi said.
The revelation surprised many fans, especially given that the film is primarily led by Prabhas, with Deepika Padukone. Kamal Haasan’s appearance as Supreme Yaskin, though limited in screen time, was widely discussed as it set the stage for future instalments.
Yugi also added that the story took an amusing turn when Kamal introduced him to the film’s producer C. Aswani Dutt. While thanking the producer for making his friend the highest-paid actor in the country. Dutt corrected him by pointing out that Kamal had actually shot for 10 days, not 20 as previously mentioned. Yugi recalled his reaction: “Sorry, I correct myself then, it’s $2 million per day.”
About Kalki 2898 AD
Directed by Nag Ashwin, Kalki 2898 AD is one of the most expensive Indian films ever made and blends mythology with futuristic storytelling. The film also features a strong ensemble, including Amitabh Bachchan and Disha Patani, and has been positioned as the beginning of a larger cinematic universe.
If Yugi Sethu’s claims are accurate, Kamal Haasan’s reported Rs 150-crore paycheck for a limited shooting schedule makes him the highest-paid actor associated with Kalki 2898 AD. While the makers have not officially confirmed the figures. The anecdote has sparked fresh conversations about actor remuneration in big-budget Indian cinema. And the immense value attached to legendary stars.
