Asha Bhosle was cremated with full state honours in Mumbai on Monday, with her last rites conducted at Shivaji Park Crematorium. Following the funeral, Zanai took to Instagram Stories to post a heartfelt photo from the ceremony. She wrote, “So overwhelmed with emotions, I’ll write something when I can, but I have to say that there were so many people who have respected her and honoured her today and beyond it all shown her so much love.”

Zanai added, “I thank you from the bottom of my heart. She deserved every bit of it. I realise that she lives on in every one of us in our hearts forever and she has seen it all from above.”

Zanai Was The First To Update About Asha Ji’s Health

Before her passing, Zanai was the first family member to update fans about Asha Bhosle’s health. She shared, “My grandmother, Asha Bhosle, due to extreme exhaustion and suffering a chest infection, has been admitted to the hospital, and we request you to value our privacy. Treatment is ongoing, and hopefully everything will be well, and we shall update you positively.”

About Tai’s Death, Funeral

Asha Bhosle passed away at the age of 92 on April 12. She was admitted to the ICU at Breach Candy Hospital on April 11 due to cardiac and respiratory issues. The legendary singer had been unwell for several months. When she was laid at her residence for loved ones to pay their respects, she was wrapped in an Indian flag as a mark of honour. Videos from the funeral show her receiving full state honours, with soldiers draping her casket, adorned with white lilies, in the tricolour. The last rites took place at Shivaji Park crematorium in Dadar.

Actors Vicky Kaushal, Aamir Khan, Vivek Oberoi, Padmini Kolapuri, and Jackie Shroff, among others, attended the funeral.

Asha Ji’s Career

Asha Bhosle is celebrated as one of the most successful and versatile singers in Hindi cinema. Over her more than 8-decade-long career, she recorded countless songs in multiple Indian languages. She was awarded the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award and the Padma Vibhushan in 2008. Her chart-busters were Dil Cheez Kya Hai, Inn Aankhon Ki Masti Ke, and more.
