Deepika Padukone

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Padmavati’ has been in the thick of controversies over its plot which according to many is a distortion of history. The members of Shri Rajput Karni Sena are of the opinion that the movie has a scene between Padmavati played by Deepika Padukone and Alauddin Khilji played by Ranveer Singh. Logic? Because Ranveer and Deepika are said to be a couple in real life so quite possible that there would be a scene between the two in the movie as well.

Bhansali and the star cast tried their level best to explain that there is no interaction between Khilji and Padmavati but it all fell on deaf ears. Finally, Karni Sena came to the conclusion of calling for Bharat Bandh on December 1, the day the movie hits the big screens. In such difficult times, the movie has been finding support from the industry and one amongst them is Richa Chadha. Not to forget, Richa had a pivotal role in SLB’s movie ‘Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram Leela’. (Also Read: Padmavati: MNS member says no protest against the film without watching it)

At the song launch of ‘Fukrey Returns’, the actress shared her thoughts on the entire controversy surrounding the movie. Said Richa, “With all due respect and love, I am also a Hindu, and I don’t think religion is so weak that a movie can break it. And I think it is a specialty of India that we are a democracy so watch the film before objecting. There is body in India which certifies the films so they have done their work. And I have so much believe in my faith, tradition, and culture, that it will not shake because of some 2-3 hours long film.”

She also had a Twitter war over the same, and we are so glad that she took a firm stand, giving it back to trolls.

Another troll jumped in, and Richa shut him like a pro.

It’s heartwarming to see actors support the movie during such critical times. We only hope that the movie manages to get a smooth release on December 1.
