Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Shahid Kapoor

It was only a few days ago that Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s much-talked-about period drama, ‘Padmavati’ joined hands with production house Viacom18 and the makers announced the release date of the film as November 27, 2017.

However, according to recent reports, the movie is still facing financial hurdles. The cast was supposed to start shooting this month, but looks like SLB now needs yet another producer, apart from Viacom 18, to fund the Rs 190 crore budget. And the director has now apparently approached UTV for the same. “While Viacom18 is on board, apparently Sanjay Leela Bhansali is also in talks with Sidharth Roy Kapoor, who has put in his papers at Disney India, to co-produce the film. It remains to be seen whether the talks bear fruit,” confirms a source.

The Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Shahid Kapoor starrer-has been going through a lot lately. After SLB’s dilemma of convincing his lead actors, the movie had to search hard for producers after Eros backed out of the venture. And now that Viacom 18 is in, Bhansali’s budget is not one production house’s cup of tea.
