Palash Sen Reveals He Knows Why Arijit Singh Quit Playback Singing

On Monday, Palash took to Instagram to share a heartfelt note reflecting on his debut film and the industry’s reaction at the time. He wrote, “Twenty-four years ago today, or perhaps on February 2, my first film as an actor, Filhaal, was released. It was a flop. I was badly written off by critics and trolled by many in the industry. There was a model-turned-actress who lectured me on why I shouldn’t act in films, along with several others. Honestly, I wasn’t interested in films to begin with. I did this one simply because I wanted to sing a song written by the greatest poet-writer, Gulzar saab. And having it composed by the legendary Anu ji was another dream come true. That’s all.”

He continued, “I really don’t understand why I was seen as a threat. I just wanted to have fun and give my best in my work. The real reward for me was working with incredible artists like Sush, Tabu, and Sanjay, and being directed by the amazing Meghna. Those are memories I cherish deeply. I was there once, and I chose my own path — the same path I believe Arijit will now follow.”

Palash also recalled that he was nominated for several Best Newcomer awards that year but didn’t win any. Despite missing out on trophies, the love from fans meant more than anything to him.
