Preponing ‘Kaabil’ release has nothing to do with competition, says Sanjay Gupta

Bollywood’s Greek God, actor Hrithik Roshan‘s next ‘Kaabil‘ is all set for a release. As many would know this romantic action thriller was earlier ready to clash with Shah Rukh Khan‘s ‘Raees’. But recently, producer Rakesh Roshan preponed the release of ‘Kaabil’ by a day. The reason for this unique strategy has nothing to do with any competition or clash feels ‘Kaabil’ director Sanjay Gupta.

Talking about it to an agency, Sanjay Gupta said, “It would probably help in the sense that, 26th is a Holiday, so coming on the night before does make it a sensible business. There are so many people who go to watch a movie when there is holiday the next day.”

“Me as a family man, I know that we can watch a late night show and enjoy that. From that point of view it is a very good move. I don’t think it has got anything much to do with any other film coming, not coming, or getting into the competition space. I don’t think it’s about that,” added the ‘Jazbaa‘ director claiming that this strategy is a good move from the audience point of view.

Further, Gupta even added saying that the clash of ‘Kaabil’ and ‘Raees’ is inevitable. He said, “That clash is now apparently inevitable. It is sad, it is in a bad taste that it is still happening. Having said that, at the end of the day, whether you come on Thursday or Friday, after that it’s just the film which will speak, there is nothing else.”

‘Kaabil’ stars actress Yami Gautam opposite Hrithik Roshan for the first time. It is now slated to release on January 25.
