Priyanka Chopra calls the COVID-19 situation in India ‘grave’; urges people to stay home

The current Covid-19 situation in India is grave. The spike in cases has overburdened the health care system and most of the hospitals in the country are running out of oxygen cylinders, Remdesivir injections and ICU beds. The country also recorded a total of 259,170 fresh infections and on Tuesday, India recorded the highest single-day casualties with 1,761 deaths.

As the pandemic is getting worse day by day, Bollywood celebs are urging their fans to stay at home and follow the necessary precautions and protocols. Priyanka Chopra wrote a lengthy note on her Instagram and Twitter handles calling the Covid-19 situation in India “grave”. Priyanka is currently in the US with her husband Nick Jonas.

She wrote, “I’m seeing images and stories coming in from different parts of the country that are so scary…the situation is out of control and our medical fraternity is at a breaking point.”

She also begged everyone to stay at home. “Do it for yourself, your family, friends, community and your frontline workers. Every doctor and frontline worker is saying the exact same thing: stay home, ensure everyone you know stays home, if you have to step out wear a mask, talk to those around you and help them understand this situation…we cannot take this lightly. Get the vaccine when it’s your turn. Doing this will help us ease the immense pressure on our medical system(sic),” wrote Priyanka.

On the work front, Priyanka was last seen in The White Tiger with Rajkummar Rao. She will be seen in Text For You that also has Sam Heughan and Celine Dion. She will also star in Matrix 4, with Keanu Reeves, Carrie-Anne Moss and Neil Patrick Harris. She also has a web series. Recently, Priyanka was one of the presenters at the recent British Academy of Film and Television Awards (BAFTA) 2021.
