August 15 was a triple celebration for actor R Madhavan. He celebrated Independence Day, Raksha Bandhan and Avani Avittam (a ritual among Brahmins). Taking to his Twitter and Instagram handles, the actor shared two pictures. In the pic that he shared on Twitter, we see son Vedaant tying the rakhi to him.

His Instagram picture was from the rituals that he performed with his father Ranganathan Seshadri and son. He captioned it as, “Wish you all a very happy INDEPENDENCE DAY, RAKSHA BANDHAN AND AAVANIYAA VATTAM.” It was indeed a great picture of the three generations.

But one thing caught the attention of the netizens. There was a mandir in the pic in which they noticed a Christian cross. A Twitter user bombarded Madhavan with questions on his religion. The user asked, “Why do they have across in the background? Is that a Mandir? You just lost my respect. Do you find Hindu Gods in Christian churches? All this is fake drama you did today.”

The ‘Rang De Basanti’ actor gave an apt reply. He replied, “I really don’t worry about respect from the likes of you. I hope you get well soon. Surprised that in u r sickness you did not see the Golden temple pic there too and asked if I converted to Sikhism.”

Here are the tweets of both.
