Raj Kundra DENIES ‘Baseless’ Allegations In Rs 60 Cr Alleged Fraud Case; Issues Official Statement

Raj Kundra has issued a strong statement denying the “baseless” allegations made against him and his wife, Shilpa Shetty, in connection with the Rs 60 crore fraud case. The businessman dismissed the claims as unfounded, emphasising that the matter is currently before the High Court. He stated that he has fully cooperated with the investigation and expressed confidence in the Indian judiciary.

Raj Kundra Denies Rs 60 Cr Fraud Case Calling It Baseless

In his tweet, Raj Kundra said, “We categorically deny the baseless and motivated allegations being circulated. The issues sought to be raised are being given a criminal colour without any lawful basis. A Quashing Petition has already been filed before the Hon’ble High Court and is pending adjudication.”

He further added, “Having fully cooperated with the investigation, we are sanguine that justice will prevail and have complete faith in the law enforcement authorities and the Indian judiciary. We respectfully urge the media to exercise restraint as the matter is sub judice.”

This statement came hours after reports emerged that the Mumbai Police had filed an FIR against the couple, adding Section 420 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) to the case.

What Is The Rs 60 Cr Fraud Case?

The celebrity couple is under investigation by the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) in a Rs 60 crore fraud and cheating case filed by businessman Deepak Kothari, director of Lotus Capital Financial Services. They are accused of accepting funds from Kothari under the pretext of expanding their business but allegedly using the money for personal purposes. Both have denied the allegations as the EOW continues its probe into the money trail.

Recently, a Look Out Circular (LOC) was issued against them to prevent international travel. When the couple approached the Bombay High Court seeking to suspend the LOC, the court directed them to deposit Rs 60 crore or provide a bank guarantee.
