Ram Gopal Varma Calls Deepika Padukone’s 8-Hour Shift Row Exaggerated

Ram Gopal Varma and Sandeep Reddy Vanga are some of the renowned filmmakers in the industry, and they have also made a mark in Bollywood. The Satya director never shies away from voicing his opinions, and this time was no different. Recently, RGV reacted to Deepika Padukone reportedly stepping out of Sandeep and Prabhas’s Spirit, which led to a controversy. It started a bigger conversation in the film industry about work-life balance and fixed working hours for actors. She is said to have walked away from the project after putting forward a few conditions.

In a recent interview with Hindustan Times, RGV said, “When it comes to having fixed shift timings for actors, I really think that it is an agreement between two people. Each of them has a right to say what they want, and the other one has a right to refuse.”

The filmmaker further added, “The whole thing (between Deepika and Sandeep) was a very exaggerated thing in my opinion. Because I can say, I want to work for 23 hours, and the actor can say I want to work only for one hour. That’s their call. But how can one human being force another human being to do something? And they can agree to work or not work with each other… But that thing was just kind of blown up in the media.”

Adding to the ongoing buzz, Spirit now stars Prabhas and Triptii Dimri in the lead roles. It is one of the most awaited projects from Sandeep Reddy Vanga, known for his films Kabir Singh and Animal. Weighing in on the issue, filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma has now shared his perspective, calling the entire controversy “exaggerated.”

Meanwhile, Spirit is targeting to hit the big screen in 2027. After calling it a wrap on Spirit, Sandeep Reddy Vanga will start the process of writing for his much-awaited project, Animal Park, featuring Ranbir Kapoor.
