Ram Gopal Varma Feels Dawood Ibrahim Was Incorrectly Shown In Dhurandhar 2

Director Ram Gopal Varma expressed his views on the portrayal of gangster Dawood Ibrahim in Dhurandhar 2. While he praised the film overall, he questioned the accuracy of the depiction, suggesting that Dawood may have distanced himself from criminal activities years ago. A confessed fan of the Dhurandhar films, Varma disagreed with how the gangster was portrayed in the sequel.

Ram Gopal Varma Feels Dawood Ibrahim Was Incorrectly Shown In Dhurandhar 2

In a discussion with writer Hussain Zaidi on his YouTube channel, Varma said, “The only element I disagree with is that. I feel that the portrayal of Dawood Ibrahim… They might have their own sources, (but) I think it is being shown incorrectly.”

In Dhurandhar 2, the character referred to as ‘Bade Sahab’ is depicted as orchestrating terror operations in India from Pakistan. However, Varma suggested this might not align with his understanding of Dawood Ibrahim’s current situation. He clarified, “It’s not like I can say that with authority. But it is not falling in line with what I know,” indicating his belief that the real Dawood has been largely inactive.

He added, “He is inactive by choice, because he stopped doing anything. I believe he retired from criminal activities 20 years ago,” based on what he has heard. At the same time, Varma acknowledged that such figures remain shrouded in mystery, and no one can definitively confirm their status. “Nobody can be an expert; nobody can know this is the truth. We all think Dhurandhar has shown something… I can’t disprove it, and the director can’t prove it as well,” he concluded.
