Rana Daggubati recently addressed Deepika Padukone’s alleged demands, which reportedly included an eight-hour work shift, profit sharing, significant remuneration, and her refusal to deliver dialogues in Telugu. This has sparked an engaging debate, with numerous celebrities—including actors and filmmakers—sharing their perspectives, particularly on the topic of the 8-hour workday. Following comments from Ajay Devgn, Kajol, Saif Ali Khan, and Mani Ratnam, Rana Daggubati has now also voiced his opinion.
Rana Daggubati Reacts To Deepika Padukone’s Alleged 8-Hour Work Shift Demand
In an interview with The Lallantop, Rana Daggubati stated, “We should understand that India is a developing country. We are not a developed nation. Our economy is probably 186th in the world if you look at per capita income.” He continued, “In a country that has 1.8 billion people and 70-80 per cent of those earn Rs 100 a day, when we start seeing things in that light, we realise we have a big place to catch up.”
The actor from Baahubali also discussed the varying work cultures across different regions. Using an example, he explained, “Like in Maharashtra, it’s a 12-hour shift. In Telugu, it’s 8 hours. But while Maharashtra starts at 9 am, Telugu starts at 7 am. If you’re on location or in a studio, if you’re shooting on a set, it all affects the equation. It’s never generic.”
Addressing the pressures faced by actors, Rana added, “Nobody is forcing anybody. It’s a job. Just like nobody forces you to do a particular show—it’s always a choice. Everyone decides what’s important in their life. There are actors who shoot for only 4 hours, that’s their system.”
Deepika’s Spirit Exit
For context, Deepika Padukone reportedly exited Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Spirit due to her demands not being met, as mentioned earlier. Following her departure, Triptii Dimri was cast as the female lead opposite Prabhas.
Deepika has now signed on for Atlee’s upcoming major project with Allu Arjun. Meanwhile, Rana is preparing for the release of his show Rana Naidu Season 2, scheduled to premiere on June 13 on Netflix.
