Earlier today, director Ayan Mukerji’s father and veteran actor Deb Mukherjee passed away due to health issues. Ayan’s family members and close friends were seen arriving at his residence sometime back. Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt were spotted returning from Alibaug in the afternoon.

Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Kajol Arrive At Ayan Mukerji’s Residence

Deb Mukherjee was uncle to Bollywood actresses Kajol and Rani Mukerji. The former was seen rushing to cousin Ayan’s residence after hearing the demise of her uncle. Kajol was dressed in a white kurta and pants with her hair tied in a bun. Kajol was very close to Deb after the demise of her father, both have been seen enjoying Durga Puja celebrations in Mumbai.

Ayan’s close friend and fellow filmmaker Karan Johar was also seen arriving at his residence. He was seen to be jolting in a hurry as suggested by reports that the funeral rites will be taking place at 4 pm in Juhu.

Ranbir-Alia Have Returned To Mumbai

Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor have returned to Mumbai following the passing of Ayan Mukerji’s father, Deb Mukherjee, who died at the age of 83. The couple share a close bond with Ayan and consider him family. They are expected to support him during this difficult time as preparations are made for the funeral later today.

On Friday, Alia and Ranbir were spotted returning to Mumbai from Alibaug. They were spotted at the jetty and appeared to be in a hurry as paparazzi captured their arrival. It remains unclear whether their daughter, Raha, is with them in Mumbai. Alia and Ranbir are also the lead stars in Ayan Mukerji’s film Brahmastra. Kapoor has previously collaborated with him on Wake Up Sid and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani.

Alia Bhatt also arrived to pay her last respects to Aayan’s father. The actress was seen accompanied by her sister Shaheen Bhatt.

Jaya Bachchan and her daughter Shweta Bachchan were seen at Ayan Mukerji’s residence to pay their last tributes to the veteran actor.

Deb Mukherjee’s Career

Deb Mukherjee began his film career with minor roles in the 1960s. He was in Tu Hi Meri Zindagi and Abhinetri. Later, he transitioned to supporting roles in movies like Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander and King Uncle. His last appearance was a cameo in Vishal Bhardwaj’s Kaminey in 2009. In addition to his acting career, Deb Mukherjee was recognized as a key figure in the North Bombay Durga Puja celebrations, which many family members including Kajol, Rani Mukerji, and Rupali Ganguly attended regularly. His filmography includes several notable Bollywood films such as Aansoo Ban Gaye Phool, Abhinetri, Do Aankhen, Baaton Baaton Mein, Kaminey, and Gudgudee.
