Rani Mukerji’s Mother Krishna Mukerji Passes Away At 75

Today, September 22, is a sad day for the members of the Mukerji family. As confirmed by Yash Raj Films, Rani Mukerji’s mother, Krishna Mukerji passes away earlier today at the age of 75. The studio took to social media and released a statement confirming the news. In it, they they requested privacy as the family grieve the loss.

YRF released an official statement confirming the sad news. The release read, “With heavy hearts, we share that Rani Mukerji’s mother Mrs Krishna Mukerji, 75, passed away this afternoon. The family is deeply grateful for your love, prayers, and support, and respectfully requests privacy during this time of immense grief.”

The cause of Krishna Ji’s death has not officially been disclosed yet. However, some reports state that she was recently ill.

About Krishna Mukerji

Krishna Mukherjee was a former playback singer. She was married to film director Ram Mukherjee (co-founder Filmalaya Studios). They stayed married until his death in 2017.

It was Krishna Ji who motivated Rani to enter the film industry and become an actress. In an interview to Rediff, Rani had once said, “I think my mom realised my dream much before I did. I don’t even know whether my mom realised my dream because it was never my dream to be an actor.”
