Ranveer Singh Convinced Kalyani Priyadarshan To Play The Lead In Jai Mehta’s Zombie Thriller Pralay- Report

Sources reveal that Ranveer Singh, who is stepping into the role of producer with the upcoming film Pralay, personally reached out to Kalyani Priyadarshan to persuade her to lead his zombie thriller. Known for his intense dedication to his craft, Ranveer is reportedly applying the same focus in his new production venture. Insiders suggest that the actor played a crucial role in convincing Kalyani Priyadarshan to take on the female lead in director Jai Mehta’s post-apocalyptic zombie film.

Ranveer Singh Personally Convinced Kalyani Priyadarshan For Pralay?

A source told Mid-Day, “Although her father, Priyadarshan, is a renowned name in Bollywood, Kalyani doesn’t have extensive experience with the Hindi film industry. After the success of Lokah, she was weighing her options about entering Bollywood and whether Pralay would be the right project for her debut. Since it’s Ranveer’s home production, he personally called her and made her understand the vision. After a detailed conversation, she realised that Ranveer and Jai are creating something truly unique. And she was excited to join the project.”

Pralay is envisioned as a post-apocalyptic zombie thriller, with the characters of Ranveer Singh and Kalyani Priyadarshan battling for survival. The film is co-produced by Sameer Nair and Hansal Mehta and is scheduled to begin filming in April. The insider added, “Kalyani is currently in Mumbai, finalising her contract and coordinating her dates with the filmmakers.”

The actress recently gained attention with her striking superhero performance in the Malayalam blockbuster Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra (2025). Initially hesitant about making her Bollywood debut at this juncture, Kalyani was contemplating her next move until Ranveer Singh stepped in.
