Ranveer Singh talks about working in 'Padmavati'

As reported earlier, Ranveer Singh has started shooting for his next ‘Padmavati’ which is a period drama, on Tuesday. The actor will be seen playing the role of a powerful ruler Alauddin Khilji after successfully essaying the character of Peshwa Bajirao I in ‘Bajirao Mastani’. In an interview with a leading magazine, Ranveer spoke about this fear saying, “I am absolutely petrified. It takes a lot out of you. Sometimes you feel empty… Like you have got nothing left. I probably may need some mental therapy. It does affect me to that degree. Hopefully, after ‘Padmavati’I will do something light to keep a balance. I need time to recover. I am on the threshold of entering completely uncharted territory. I’m scared of stepping into that rabbit hole. I fear if I go in, I may not come back. Like Heath Ledger. He didn’t come back. He went so far into the rabbit hole that it took away everything from him. I can say I’m living life on the edge.”

As Ranveer has mentioned about the late Hollywood actor Heath Ledger, it has been heard that his obsession with the character of Joker in his movie ‘The Dark Knight’ had eventually led him on overdosing on painkillers, following which he died at the age of 28.

Apart from Ranveer, actor Shahid Kapoor will be seen playing the role of Raja Rawal Ratan Singh, Rajput ruler and husband of queen Padmavati, played by Deepika Padukone, in the period drama.

‘Padmavati’ is slated to release on November 17, 2017.
