Rumours about the adaptation of The Immortals of Meluha recently flooded social media after reports claimed Ranveer Singh had acquired the rights to the bestselling mythological fantasy novel. These reports further stated that he was planning to develop the project into a grand-scale trilogy, with Ranveer portraying Lord Shiva in the films.

However, Amish Tripathi has now clarified that all such reports are false. Speaking to Variety India, he said, “The rights for the Shiva Trilogy are with me. And nothing has been signed with anyone as yet. Of course, I have huge respect for Ranveer, and am a big fan of his. But this news is not true.”
What Were The Reports?
Earlier, Pinkvilla reported that the film adaptation of The Immortals of Meluha is currently in the writing stage, with Ranveer and Ananya Birla actively involved in the development process. “Ranveer has been passionate about bringing Meluha to the big screen for a long time now. The acquisition happened recently, and the project is now officially under development. Makers are approaching the franchise as a long-term cinematic universe and the plan is to tell the story over 3 films. The writing work has already begun, and the team is taking its time to crack the screenplay and world-building. The first part is expected to go on floors in 2028,” a source told Pinkvilla.
RS’ Upcoming Projects
As for Ranveer Singh’s upcoming projects, he is expected to start shooting for Aditya Dhar’s next directorial venture in March 2027. He also has Pralay, directed by Jay Mehta, tentatively scheduled to begin in August 2026. There has been no official announcement yet.
