Ranveer Singh’s past comments on long working hours have resurfaced amid the ongoing debate sparked by Deepika Padukone’s stance on work-life balance. Deepika recently drew attention when she chose not to work 12-hour days on set, prompting discussions about the industry’s working conditions. After her exit from Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Spirit, allegedly due to this issue, many actors have come forward to support her. Now, Ranveer Singh’s old remarks have also come into focus, though they date back to 2022.
Ranveer Singh’s Past Comment On Working 12-Hour Straight Resurfaces Amid Deepika Padukone’s 8-Hour Shift Demand
A vintage clip of Ranveer Singh is making rounds on social media, not just because of what he said, but because it contrasts sharply with Deepika’s recent comments and the current discourse on industry work ethics.
In the clip from 2022, Ranveer spoke to Bollywood Hungama about the work culture in Bollywood. He shared, “A lot of times people complain… other artists and their management complain ki ‘Yaar tu sabko bigaad raha hai.’ Sab log bolte hain, ‘8 ghanta ki shift mein tu 10-12 ghanta kabhi shooting karta hai. Fir hum log ko bhi karna padta hai.’”
He further explained why he didn’t see long hours as an issue. Ranveer said,“But ab 8 ghanta mein wo cheez jo hum chahte hain, wo nahi bani toh theek hai na. Aap karlo thodi si zyada shooting. I’m not that kind of partner who sees it as a transaction. That’s the key.” As the clip circulates online, it has sparked widespread discussion among viewers.
Deepika Padukone’s 8 Hour Work Demand
A few months ago, Deepika made headlines for requesting that the makers of Spirit and Kalki 2898 AD limit shooting hours to eight per day. When her request was not accommodated, the actress, who recently became a mother, chose to step away from these projects.
In a broader interview, Deepika addressed the issue, stating, “By virtue of being a woman, if that’s coming across as pushy or whatever, then so be it. But it is no secret that a lot of superstars, male superstars, in the Indian film industry have been working for eight hours for years, and it’s never made headlines.”
She added, “I don’t want to take names now and make this into a whole thing, but it is very commonly, publicly known that a lot of male actors have been working for eight hours a day for years. A lot of them only work for eight hours Monday to Friday. They do not work on weekends.”
Ranveer’s Current Projects
Meanwhile, Ranveer is riding high on the success of his recent film, Dhurandhar. The movie has garnered praise for its compelling storyline and strong performances. Directed by Aditya Dhar, the film also features Arjun Rampal, R. Madhavan, Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, Sara Arjun, and Rakesh Bedi in key roles.
