Saif Ali Khan

The online dating application Tinder is turning out to be dangerous for users who are trying to find a genuine date or maybe true love. Recently, there were news of actor Varun Dhawan’s pictures being misused on Tinder by a man. But before that, a similar thing occurred with Saif Ali Khan.

This incident happened more than a month back. We are not sure if many of you recollect, but a man named as Antony Ray used Saif’s pictures in his profile and duped a 44-year-old woman in the UK. According to a report in Daily Mail, “He had even used the same picture of Bollywood star Saif Ali Khan on his Tinder account, who looks similar to him but allows him to continue lying to his family without the risk of being caught out.” After dating the man for 14 months virtually, the woman thought something to be fishy and hired a private investigator and soon discovered that he had misused an actor’s pictures and was actually a married man with children. The poor woman was left traumatized and had to undergo professional counselling to get over the shock.

Now, actor Saif Ali Khan has opened up on this unfortunate incident with HT Cafe.

Expressing his sadness, he said, “I felt bad for the lady. This is a good example of the risks of online dating. There is a parallel universe out there and people need to be aware that they may be taken for a ride. Sometimes the deception can even lead to violence and death, as in Israel a few years ago when a boy was lured into enemy territory by a fake date and was killed. A new world requires new awareness and rules like authentication of identity for certain sites should certainly exist. These will always be a risk though.”

We too feel for the woman and for Saif too, who was unaware of his pictures being used elsewhere.
