‘Love Aaj Kal 2’: Saif Ali Khan to play Sara Ali Khan’s father’s role?

After Bollywood heartthrob Kartik Aaryan and everyone’s favourite Sara Ali Khan, Saif Ali Khan has been locked for Imtiaz Ali’s next film ‘Love Aaj Kal 2’. Ever since Kartik and Sara were declared the lead actors of the film, cinemagoers are eagerly waiting to see them on the silver screen together. It is to be noted that Sara Ali Khan had expressed her wish to go on a coffee date with ‘Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety’ actor last year.

The first part of the film ‘Love Aaj Kal’ was a unique and different take on love and it featured Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone in lead roles. When Sara appeared on Karan Johar‘s popular talk show ‘Koffee With Karan’ along with her father Saif, she made startling revelations like her acting aspirations, her weight loss and several other things. In one of the rapid-fire rounds, Sara also said that she would like to marry Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor and go on a date with handsome hunk, Kartik Aaryan.

A source told DNA, “Saif Ali Khan has been roped in to play an important role in the romcom, which will be a sequel to his own hit film with Imtiaz — Love Aaj Kal. This will be the first time that Saif will be sharing screen space with his daughter Sara. It’s not just a cameo but a full-fledged role. He will play the role of Sara’s father on screen as well.”

The makers of ‘Love Aaj Kal 2’ were scouting for an older hero to play the role of Sara’s father and Imtiaz thought no one can be better than Saif.  “It was the obvious call he made, given that it is ‘Love Aaj Kal 2’ and the core idea of the plot remains the same. Like Rishi Kapoor in the original, Saif, too, will have a prominent part in Sara and Kartik’s relationship here.”

As per the reports, ‘Love Aaj Kal 2’ team is currently busy locking dates since all the three actors have agreed on principle. “Their combination dates also need to be worked out. So once that happens, Imtiaz plans to roll this film sometime around mid 2019.”
