Veteran actress Saira Banu expressed her gratitude towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his graciousness after he offered condolences on Dilip Kumar’s death. Saira also thanked Maharastra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray for approving state funeral for her late husband.

Expressing his sorrow on the thespian’s death, PM Modi had tweeted, “Dilip Kumar Ji will be remembered as a cinematic legend. He was blessed with unparalleled brilliance, due to which audiences across generations were enthralled. His passing away is a loss to our cultural world. Condolences to his family, friends, and innumerable admirers. RIP(sic).”

Taking to Dilip Kumar’s official Twitter handle, Saira Banu thanking PM Modi wrote, “Thank you hon’ ble @PMOIndia Shri @narendramodi ji for your early morning gracious phone call and condolences. -Saira Banu Khan (sic).” The Padosan actress also thanked Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray for according state funeral to the legendary actor.

Thanking the CM, the actress wrote, “Thank you@PMOIndia and @CMOMaharashtra for according Dilip Sahib burial with state funeral protocols-Saira Banu Khan.”

Dilip Kumar was laid to rest at the Juhu Qabrastan in Santacruz Mumbai. Several celebs and politicians had flooded the late actor’s residence to offer condolences to Saira and her family.

The 98-year-old Mughal-E-Azam actor breathed his last on July 7. He died due to age related issues.
