Salman Khan

The schedule of Salman Khan starrer ‘Tubelight’, which was supposed to begin next week in Ladakh, has been delayed. The current tension in Kashmir has led to the cancellation of the shoot for the time being.

A unit member said, “We are flying to Ladakh on July 25 for the first leg of shoot, but will return to Mumbai after that considering recent developments in Kashmir. We have been asked to keep away due to security reasons. So, the schedule has been indefinitely put on hold. As of now, no decision has been taken on shooting at alternate locations that can pass off as Kashmir.”

The state of Kashmir has always been under strain due to separatist-sponsored strike after the execution of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani in an encounter on July 8. The mobile services also have been debarred.

According to reports, Salman was the one to insist that director Kabir Khan should shoot in Ladakh and Kashmir. ‘Tubelight’ is a period drama set against the backdrop of the 1962 Sino-Indian war over sovereignty of the Himalayan border.

Salman’s real life brother Sohail Khan will essay the role of his reel life brother in the film, while Deepika Padukone is being considered for the female lead, although it is not confirmed.
