sameer wankhede Breaks Silence On Animosity With Shah Rukh Khan

Sameer Wankhede has claimed that Netflix’s ‘The Ba***ds of Bollywood’ has harmed his reputation by depicting a defamatory portrayal of him. The former NCB officer has responded to the ongoing defamation lawsuit filed against Shah Rukh Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment and Netflix concerning the series. Wankhede asserted that the show has damaged his image through false and damaging representations.

Sameer Wankhede REACTS To Animosity With Shah Rukh Khan

“There is none… I am an officer of the law, and I follow all applicable books and Acts. We do not live in some kind of banana republic. We have a constitution, a system, and a structured chain of command. I am just a small government servant. How could anyone hold such a grudge against me? These are just loose talks,” Wankhede told HT, addressing rumours of personal animosity with SRK.

In an interview with NDTV, he added, “I am fighting to uphold the honour of my uniform and the law enforcement agencies that work tirelessly for the nation. They cannot be humiliated or trolled like this. I am also fighting to protect the dignity of our national emblem, Satyamev Jayate, which should not be mocked or ridiculed.”

“Officers involved in anti-drug operations and those serving the nation feel hurt when such things happen. Satire is one thing, but humiliating officers who have dedicated themselves to fighting drug crimes is another. These actions hurt us,” he explained.

What Did Sameer Wankhede State In His plea?

In his petition to the Delhi High Court, Wankhede argued that the series disseminates a misleading and negative portrayal of anti-drug enforcement agencies, thereby eroding public confidence in law enforcement institutions. The plea further claims that the show was “deliberately conceived and executed with the intent to malign Sameer Wankhede’s reputation in a prejudicial and malicious manner.”

According to the suit, this act constitutes a serious violation of the Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act, 1971, carrying penal consequences under the law. The suit further contends that the content of the series contravenes various provisions of the Information Technology Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). It seeks to outrage national sentiment through obscene and offensive material.
