Sara Ali Khan Kedarnath Kangana Ranaut

Bollywood Actress Sara Ali Khan has found herself at the centre of a fresh controversy surrounding entry norms at the revered Kedarnath Temple, a place she has visited multiple times and holds a visible spiritual connection with. The actress, who played a pilgrim in the 2018 film Kedarnath, has often shared glimpses from her visits to the shrine, expressing devotion and admiration for its serene surroundings.

Sara Ali Khan Asked To ‘Give Affidavit Proving She Is Sanatani’ To Enter Kedarnath Temple

Sara, daughter of Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh, has also spoken in the past about embracing multiple faiths, frequently visiting temples across the country. Her public appearances at Kedarnath and other religious sites have often resonated with fans, making the recent development all the more hype worthy.

According to reports, Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee (BKTC) chief Hemant Dwivedi on Tuesday said during a press conference held in Dehradun, where he shared the recent proposal passed by the temple committee, which bars entry of ‘non-sanatani’ into Kedarnath and Badrinath shrines, part of Uttarakhand’s char dham temples, which also includes Gangotri and Yamunotri.

He also has stated that Sara Ali Khan can visit the temple, but under a specific condition. “She can come if she gives an affidavit that she has faith in Sanatan Dharma and she is a Sanatani,” he said.

The decision comes amid growing concerns around maintaining the sanctity and decorum of the temple premises, especially with increasing footfall and celebrity visits drawing large crowds. In addition to this, the committee has also imposed stricter guidelines for visitors, including a ban on mobile phones within a 50–60 metre radius of the temple to ensure better crowd management. Designated areas outside this restricted zone will be allocated for photography.

Kangana Ranaut REACTS To The Controversy

Reacting to the controversy, actor and politician Kangana Ranaut weighed in with her perspective on the matter. She said, “Sab Sanatani hai. Yahan pe jo bhi hai, sab Sanatani hai. Kyunki hamara jab janam hua hai..Sanatan matlab jiska naa aadi hai na ant. Sare religion hazaar, pandra sau saal puraane hai. Sanatan hi hai jo satya hai. To vo bhi Sanatani hi hai. Ab unko satya likhne mai kya ghabrahat? Likh dijiye.”

The development has sparked a wider debate online, with opinions divided over religious identity, personal faith, and access to places of worship. Meanwhile, Sara Ali Khan has not yet publicly responded to the controversy.
