Last week, Aamir Khan‘s statement on the issue of intolerance in India led to a national debate, wherein a lot of people including celebrities, who either supported him or bashed him on social media. From FIRs being filed against the actor to a website being formed to virtually slap Mr. Perfectionist, Aamir Khan attracted a lot of trouble through his opinion. But, even though the protesters carried out a full-fledged protest against the actor, Aamir Khan had few friends who openly supported him. One of them is Shah Rukh Khan.

With the intolerance issue being the talk topic of the industry, Badshah Khan was recently asked about his thoughts on this controversy. To this he replied, “You don’t have to be proving your patriotism in any other way, except for thinking good for the country and doing good. You have to work for the benefit of the country. If I work for the country in the most kindest way in what I am good at, my country is going to benefit from that. But if I am corrupt, and regional about it, I will be harming my country.” When Aamir said that he felt alarmed as the current environment in the country has led to a feeling of disquiet, protesters bashed him for being traitorous and a few poked him on his religion. To this, Aamir Khan in his official statement had said that “I am proud to be an Indian and I love my country.” To an extension to this, SRK has now come to his rescue by saying that working towards the betterment of the country is the only way of being patriotic. Some wise words, indeed!

Before, Aamir, Shah Rukh Khan was the one who irked a lot of people with his opinion on the intolerance issue. He had said that “religious intolerance and not being secular…is the worst kind of crime that you can do as a patriot” and this didn’t settle down well with the audience.

Meanwhile, SRK is gearing up for his next release ‘Dilwale’ on December 18, 2015.
