Shekhar Suman has shared his satirical take on Aamir Khan’s recent wedding with Gauri Spratt. During the latest episode of his popular YouTube talk show, Shekhar Tonite, the host delivered a monologue on the Bollywood superstar’s third wedding, held earlier this month, calling it a masterclass in forming alliances for politicians in power.
Shekhar Suman Takes A Subtle Dig At Aamir Khan’s Third Marriage With Gauri Spratt
“This man has given a unique vision to several generations yet to come. And that vision is to chase something till you don’t achieve it,” said Shekhar Suman on his show. He added that regardless of one’s profession, everyone should touch Aamir Khan’s feet. “Politicians, especially, should learn a lot from him. It’s often said that politicians know how to form alliances. But they should learn the art of forming alliances with this man,” he remarked.
Shekhar noted that after Aamir’s first two “alliances”—his marriages with Reena Dutta and filmmaker Kiran Rao—ended unfortunately, he should now call his third alliance—his partnership with Gauri, his partner of over two years—a “mahagathbandhan” (grand alliance). “Our government can’t run a double engine smoothly, and he’s running a triple engine now,” quipped Shekhar. “Aapne Gauri… ek minute… gaur kia hoga,” he said with his trademark wit, slipping in the name of Aamir Khan’s third wife. “His talent is unimaginable. He’s unique. He’s like an engine where petrol, ethanol, and isobutanol are blended together. Despite that, this engine hasn’t stopped yet and is smoothly running on the tracks toward a new destination,” added Shekhar.
Shekhar Quips Aamir Is Challenging Politicians
On Aamir Khan challenging politicians, Shekhar claimed that even if no one else manages to secure their “achchhe din” (good days), Aamir has done it a third time. “Aamir Khan has formed the government for the third time with full majority. Is Aamir Khan the NDA government or what? Even PM Modi must be thinking that he just broke Nehru’s record, and now he has a new competitor in Aamir,” joked Shekhar.
He also pointed out that Aamir’s third wedding was a “familial” affair, attended not only by his first two wives but also their children and Gauri’s son from a previous marriage. While he and Reena co-parent entrepreneur Ira Khan and Junaid Khan, he and Kiran co-parent Azad. Gauri also has a son from a prior marriage. “This is called vasudhaiva kutumbakam (the world is one family),” said Shekhar. He further suggested that the INDIA alliance—comprising opposition parties like Congress, Samajwadi Party, DMK, TMC, AAP, and NCP—should learn from Aamir how to maintain harmony with former allies.
Regarding Aamir Khan’s third marriage, Shekhar said, “Now, I get why he’s called the ‘perfectionist’. He keeps doing something until he becomes perfect at it. As we all know, perfection ki koi seema nahi hoti… Seema chhodiye, koi Reena, koi Kiran nahi hoti.”
Aamir-Gauri’s Marriage
Aamir married Gauri Spratt on July 5 in an intimate registration at their Bandra home, with only family and close friends present. Their children from previous marriages also attended, smiling widely as the couple formalised their union. Aamir reconnected with Gauri, whom he first met in Bengaluru in 2001 through his cousin Nuzhat Khan. They dated for a year before Aamir introduced her as his “partner” ahead of his 60th birthday last March. Gauri moved from Bengaluru to Mumbai, started living with Aamir, and began working with his production company, Aamir Khan Productions.
Aamir’s first marriage to Reena Dutta ended in 2002. He then married Kiran Rao in 2005, and they announced their separation in 2021. The couple has a son, Azad, via surrogacy.
