Singer Monali Thakur of ‘Sawaar Loon’ fame recently gave everyone a pleasant surprise when she made her 3-year-old marriage to boyfriend Maik Richter official. Yes, the singer was able to keep her wedding a secret for three years! And guess what? None of her industry friends knows about her marriage nor anyone of them were invited to her wedding.

Monali Thakur recently spoke to Bollywood Bubble about her life in Switzerland, and how she was spending lockdown time there. Have a look:

Spilling the beans on keeping her wedding to Switzerland-based restaurateur Maik under wraps, Monali told Times of India, “The news of my marriage will come as a shock to many as none of my industry friends were aware or invited. We kept delaying the ceremony and announcement and three years just passed by.”

The singer didn’t have a conventional wedding and hence she kept it has a secret. Though she is planning to have a proper wedding now when things return to normalcy and invite her close friends. “Mujhe pata hai bahot gaali padne wali hai logon se (I know people will be very angry with me), but I think when we have our wedding ceremony and invite people for the celebrations, they won’t be upset anymore,” Monali told the daily.

Revealing how Maik proposed to her, the singer shared, “I met Maik during my trip to Switzerland and we clicked instantly. Not just him, I made a connection with his family, too. Maik proposed to me at the exact spot where we had met for the first time, under a tree, on a freezing Christmas Eve 2016. My reply was an instant yes.” 

Interestingly, Maik made his acting debut in Monali’s latest single ‘Dil Ka Fitoor’.

Let’s hope these two lovebirds get to have a conventional wedding very soon so that we can witness yet another Big Fat Bollywood wedding.
