Sonam Kapoor-starrer ‘Neerja‘ is undoubtedly one of the most honest and inspiring biopics made in recent times. The actress took to Twitter to share a video which shows an artist drawing a portrait of Sonam as Neerja Bhanot. She has captioned it, “Even today, the heroism and bravery of Neerja Bhanot continues to move me. It was an honour to play her and pay homage to her indelible memory. #2YearsOfNeerja #Neerja.” Further, Sonam also tweeted, “To a film that’s closest to my heart. Indeed, Sonam was born to play Neerja Bhanot. Interestingly, the actress won the prestigious National Film Award (Special Jury Mention) for her brilliant performance. The film even went on to win the Best Feature Film in Hindi at the National Film Awards.

Directed by Ram Madhvani and produced by Atul Kasbekar and Fox Star Studios, ‘Neerja’ told the story of Neerja Bhanot who had lost her life trying to save 361 passengers during the hijack situation on Pan Am Flight 73 in the year 1986.
