Sonu Sood tops 50 Asian Celebrities in The World list

Amidst the pandemic, actor Sonu Sood showed what it takes to be a real-life hero. The ‘Dabangg’ actor went out of his way to help the stranded daily wagers and students amidst the lockdown.

Sonu’s selfless deeds have earned him a lot of praises and now he has been named the number one South Asian celebrity in the world for his charity work amidst the Coronavirus pandemic. Sonu has beaten other celebs like Amitabh Bachchan, Lily Singh and Priyanka Chopra to top the list. The list of ’50 Asian Celebrities in The World’ is published by UK-based weekly newspaper Eastern Eye.

According to a PTI report, the list celebrates the celebs who have made a positive impact on society. Expressing his gratitude, Sonu said, “As the pandemic broke, I realised it was my duty to help my countrymen; it was an instinct that came from within. Eventually, this was something I came to Mumbai for. It was my responsibility as an Indian, which I did. I think all the love of the people which I received was simply their wishes and prayers. Once again, I won’t stop till my last breath.”\

Amidst the lockdown, Sonu was hailed for going out of his way to help the needy especially the daily wagers. The actor also provided PPE kits to frontline workers, paid for surgeries of needy people, donated food and helped farmers. In short, he surpassed everyone’s expectations and helped the needy ones wholeheartedly.

Second, on the list is YouTuber and social media star Lily Singh. She was honoured for her “pathbreaking journey, remarkable output and entertaining audiences most when they needed it”. Next on the list is British pop singer Charlie XCX (3) followed by British Indian actor Dev Patel(4). Then came singer Armaan Malik(5) and actress Priyanka Chopra(6).

The remaining celebs on the top ten are-Prabhas (7), Hollywood power player Mindy Kaling (8), Indian TV star Surbhi Chandna (9) and Pakistan-born Hollywood heavyweight Kumail Nanjiani (10). Canadian newcomer Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, Amitabh Bachchan and author Avni Doshi are among other celebs on this list.

With each passing day, Sonu is making us all the more proud of him.
