SP Balasubrahmanyam Funeral: Legendary singer laid to rest at his farmhouse with full state honours

Veteran singer SP Balasubrahmanyam breathed his last on September 25. He was 74. The singer reportedly died due to Covid-19 related complications. The singer’s mortal remains were brought to his Chennai residence last night. His mortal remains were embalmed for public homage. According to a report by ANI, the singer’s cremation ceremony took place at Thamaraipakkam village of Thiruvallore district.

Last night, a tweet by ANI read, ” Mortal remains of singer SP Balasubrahmanyam brought to his farmhouse in Thamaraipakkam village of Thiruvallore district for the cremation ceremony.”

The singer’s fans thronged his residence to catch the last glimpse of him. A huge crowd was gathered at his farmhouse as well. Speaking about the traffic and security arrangements, Aravindan, SP Thiruvallore told ANI, “Today, on account of the funeral of SP Balasubrahmanyam, we have made elaborate security arrangements. We have deployed around 500 personnel, separate traffic police team is also there to take care of traffic issues.”

Several stars from the south industry and politicians paid their last respect to the legendary singer.

SPB was given an official gun salute by the Tamil Nadu Police by firing 72 shots in the air. Filmmaker SP Charan performed the last rites of his late father. Despite the Coronavirus scare, a huge crowd had gathered to catch the last glimpse of their beloved singer.

SPB was one of the most renowned singers of the Hindi film industry. He was equally popular for his work in the South film industry. His death is a huge loss to the music industry. May his soul rests in peace.
