SP Balasubrahmanyam left for his heavenly abode on September 25. The singer was admitted at MGM Healthcare in Chennai since August 5 after he tested positive for coronavirus. The official statement from MGM Healthcare said that the singer died of a cardio-respiratory arrest. He had tested negative for Covid-19 on September 4.

Post his death, there were reports doing the rounds that Balasubrahmanyam’s family couldn’t afford his hospital bills and it was the Vice President Venkaiah Naidu’s daughter who came forward to clear the bills.

SPB’s son SP Charan released a video on his Facebook page in which he clarified about the rumours on his father’s hospital bills. He said there were rumours about the pending bill amount and that he had asked the state government for help. When they did not respond, there were rumours that he had approached the Vice President who had reciprocated. He also said that it was also being said that the hospital refused to hand over his dad’s mortal remains unless the bill was cleared. Charan said, “Let me say something, this is all a big hogwash.”

He further said, “Whoever spread this message, don’t seem to realize how hurtful and offensive it is to those associated with the issue. I don’t think SPB’s fans can do something like this. I want to forgive this person or persons who have been spreading these rumours. I hope he gets some sense and does the right thing.”

Charan thanked the hospital where his father was treated and said he will soon give the details of the bills. He requested everyone not to spread rumours.
