Rani Kapur Reaches Delhi HC Against Priya Sachdev, Karisma Kapoor's Children Over 'Fraud Family Fund

Rani Kapur has filed a petition in the Delhi High Court seeking to declare the RK Family Trust as “null and void,” accusing her daughter-in-law Priya Kapur and others of fraud and forgery. She is demanding the return of assets from the estate of her late husband, industrialist Sunjay Kapur. Sunjay Kapur’s wife, Priya Kapur, has been embroiled in a legal dispute with his family over the ownership of his Rs 30,000 crore estate.

Rani Kapur Reaches Delhi HC Over ‘Fraud Family Fund

In a recent development, Rani Kapur has also initiated a new case in Delhi HC against her daughter-in-law Priya Kapur and the children of actress Karisma Kapoor—Samaira and Kiaan—alleging fraud, forgery, and exploitation of her vulnerable state. She is seeking the restoration of her assets and estate.

The 80-year-old Rani Kapur claims that the trust, formed in her name in October 2017, was based on “forged, fabricated, and fraudulent” documents. She has requested the court to permanently restrain Priya Kapur, her grandchildren, and other defendants from using or acting in relation to the “RK Family Trust” in any way.

She asserts that she was the sole beneficiary of her late husband Surinder Kapur’s estate, which included various business interests like the Sona Group of Companies. According to her, a “systematic fraud” was carried out when her assets were transferred into the trust without her knowledge or consent.

Kapur’s plea states that Sunjay Kapur never confirmed to her that she had been divested of her rights or provided her with a copy of the trust documents before his death. The lawsuit also includes Sunjay’s two children with Karisma Kapoor, who are now parties to the case.

The suit further alleges that after suffering a stroke in September 2017, Rani Kapur became dependent on her son Sunjay and his third wife, Priya. It claims that, taking advantage of her weakened condition, the defendants conspired to secretly transfer her assets into the RK Family Trust without her informed approval.

Describing the situation as a case of fraud, forgery, and abuse of trust, Kapur has urged the court to restore her family’s legacy and assets, accusing the defendants of orchestrating a calculated conspiracy to dispossess an elderly widow of her lifetime inheritance.
