Priya Sachdev Hits Back At MIL Rani Kapur's Accusations Of Hiding Late Sunjay Kapur's Net Worth

Priya Sachdev’s legal team has alleged that Rani Kapur continues to withdraw money from Sunjay Kapur’s company, Sona Comstar’s holding firm AIPL. The ongoing dispute over the estate of the late industrialist Sunjay Kapur has taken a new turn. In a recent court hearing, Priya Sachdev responded to accusations made by her mother-in-law, Rani Kapur, claiming that Rani is still drawing over Rs 21 lakh from the company to cover her personal expenses, just as she did when Sunjay was alive.

Priya Sachdev Hits Back At Rani Kapur’s Accusations Of Hiding Late Sunjay Kapur’s Net Worth

The Delhi High Court heard the case on Wednesday, which involves claims made by Sunjay Kapur’s children from his previous marriage—Karisma Kapoor’s children—who have alleged that Priya has forged their father’s will. During the proceedings, Priya Sachdev’s legal team refuted Rani Kapur’s allegations that she concealed Sunjay’s true financial status. Earlier in the week, Rani’s lawyer had argued that Priya had withheld key financial information and suggested there is suspicion that funds may have been transferred abroad.

Priya’s lawyer, Rajiv Nayar, dismissed these accusations, stating, “I have submitted a comprehensive list of assets, and all transactions are documented within this list… No money has been transferred overseas.” He further described the allegations as “baseless and reckless.”

Regarding Sunjay’s earnings, Nayar clarified, “Mr Kapur was a director of AIPL for the financial year 2023-24, during which he received a salary of Rs 10 crore. Additionally, he received a one-time bonus of Rs 50 crore. After deducting TDS of Rs 23.5 crore, he was left with ₹36.5 crore. Of this amount, Rs 28.5 crore was spent on purchasing immovable assets in London.”

The legal team also highlighted that Rani Kapur continues to receive money from AIPL, the holding company of Sona Comstar. Specifically, they claimed Rani receives Rs 21.5 lakh each month, and her personal expenses are being paid exactly as they were when Sunjay was alive. “Such treatment exemplifies her favouritism,” they added pointedly.

Dispute Over Sunjay Kapur’s Estate

Meanwhile, Sunjay Kapur’s children, Samaira and Kiaan, have filed a plea in the Delhi High Court asserting that the will presented by Priya, Sunjay’s third wife, is forged. Following a hearing on November 17, Joint Registrar Gagandeep Jindal issued notices to Priya Kapur and Shradha Suri Marwah, the executor of the alleged will, instructing them to file their responses within three weeks. The children contend that the will is a forgery designed to exclude them from their late father’s estate.

Sunjay Kapur was the chairman of Sona Comstar, a prominent auto parts manufacturer. He passed away in June in London while participating in a polo match. Sunjay was married to Karisma Kapoor from 2003 to 2016, with whom he had two children. He married Priya in 2017.
