The film is all set to hit theatres this Diwali, generating buzz even before its release.
Thama FIRST Looks Out
Thama, starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna, is rapidly gaining attention as one of the most anticipated entries in Maddock’s horror-comedy universe. Previously, the makers shared a montage from the set, and now they have revealed the first look of the star cast — including Ayushmann Khurrana, Rashmika Mandanna, Paresh Rawal, and Nawazuddin Siddiqui.
Ayushmann Khurrana As Alok
Taking to Instagram, Maddock Films posted Ayushmann’s look as Alok, captioning, “Presenting Ayushmann Khurrana as Alok – Insaaniyat ki aakhri umeed. The World of Thama drops tomorrow at 11:11 am. This Diwali, the universe gives us a bloody love story in cinemas worldwide.”
Rashmika Mandanna
They also shared Rashmika’s look, writing, “Presenting Rashmika Mandanna as Tadaka – Roshni ki ek hi paheli kiran. The World of Thama drops tomorrow at 11:11 am. This Diwali, the universe gives us a bloody love story in cinemas worldwide.”
Paresh Rawal & Nawazuddin Siddiqui
Additionally, the post introduced Paresh Rawal as Mr. Ram Bajaj Goyal — “Jo Hamesha Comedy Mein Tragedy Dhoondhte Hain” — and Nawazuddin Siddiqui as Yakshaashan, “Andhere ka badshah.”
About Thama
Thama is described as a romantic love story that delves into unrequited love through its central character. Set in contemporary Delhi, the film features Khurrana as a historian, with the narrative interwoven with flashbacks that transport viewers to the ancient city of Vijayanagar, where the love story begins, according to sources.
Directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, Thama was announced last October. Touted as a gripping love story set against a bloody backdrop, the film is scheduled for release during Diwali 2025. It is produced by Dinesh Vijan and is part of Maddock Films’ expanding horror-comedy universe. The film will face competition at the box office from Kartik Aaryan and Sreeleela’s yet-untitled project, directed by Anurag Basu.
