Sonu Sood Called For Questioning In Illegal Betting App Case

Actors Sonu Sood and Urvashi Rautela have been summoned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) as part of an ongoing investigation into the illegal betting app 1xBet. Sonu Sood has been asked to appear at the ED headquarters in Delhi on September 24. The ED is probing the growing scandal linked to illegal online betting platforms. Several celebrities and public figures are under the scanner for promoting or being associated with these platforms.

Urvashi Rautela’s name has also surfaced in the investigation. She was earlier called in for questioning in March 2024 but did not appear. She has now been summoned again for September 16. If she skips it, this will be her second absence.

Reports suggest that Urvashi has not contacted the agency to confirm her availability. The ED is focusing not only on betting companies but also on celebrities who promoted them, possibly helping these illegal platforms reach a wider audience.

Along with Sonu and Urvashi, the names of several well-known personalities have come up. This includes former Indian cricketers like Harbhajan Singh, Yuvraj Singh, and Suresh Raina, who are also being questioned about their promotional links to such betting apps.

Actors from South Indian cinema, such as Vijay Deverakonda, Rana Daggubati, Prakash Raj, Manchu Lakshmi, Praneetha, and Nidhi Agarwal have also been named in connection with the case.

The ED is continuing to dig deeper into the involvement of celebrities who might have knowingly or unknowingly endorsed illegal betting platforms. More details are expected as the investigation moves forward.
