The team is now set to shoot in Antarctica, adding a groundbreaking chapter to Indian cinema.

See you soon in Antarctica. ⭐️ @urstrulyMahesh https://t.co/HpBfRPbMEg
Antarctica is rarely used as a shooting location for commercial films due to its extreme weather conditions, logistical hurdles, strict environmental regulations under the Antarctic Treaty, and high production costs. Fewer than ten films have been shot there, making it a rare and challenging choice. If successful, Varanasi will likely become the first Indian mainstream film to shoot on the continent.
PC Updates On Varanasi Shoot
During the promotion of The Bluff, Priyanka discussed Varanasi and shared her excitement. She called the project “one of India’s biggest ambitions,” highlighting its scope — travelling through time and across the world in an adventure-filled narrative. She mentioned, “We have been shooting for over 14 months, with six more months to go intermittently. Rajamouli takes his time, but from what I’ve seen, it’s going to be very cool and defining for Indian cinema.”
