Priyanka Chopra ADMITS Varanasi Director SS Rajamouli Takes 'Long Time To Make Movies'

Priyanka Chopra is gearing up for her Bollywood comeback nearly six years after her last Hindi film, The Sky Is Pink, where she starred opposite Farhan Akhtar. The ‘desi girl’ is now set to make her debut with acclaimed filmmaker S. S. Rajamouli in Varanasi, slated for release on April 7, 2027. The film will also mark her first on-screen collaboration with Mahesh Babu, a pairing fans are eagerly looking forward to. In a recent conversation with Jay Shetty, Priyanka opened up about her experience working with the Baahubali director, candidly sharing how meticulous and time-intensive his filmmaking process is. Priyanka Chopra Opens Up About Her Role In Varanasi And Her Much-Awaited Bollywood Comeback

Priyanka Chopra has carved a strong space for herself in Hollywood over the past six years, starring in international projects like Baywatch and Love Again. Despite being part of major global ventures, she has admitted missing Hindi cinema deeply, adding that Varanasi couldn’t have been a more perfect film to mark her Bollywood comeback. In a recent chat with Jay Shetty, Priyanka Chopra said, “If there was any film to be done, it would have been this. This is the best way of going back to Indian films. I missed it so much. I missed the dancing, I missed the chaos on set, I missed the creativity. With SS Rajamouli sir, he’s so… his mind and vision are so far beyond the limited imagination.”

The Barfi actress continued, “Just to be able to see what he’s thinking and be that vessel to tell that story is great. My part is amazing. I have a beautiful graph of ups and downs in the movie. My co-actors are great. It’s awesome to be able to work with actors who know their stuff, arrive on time, are great to be around, and are fun.”

Talking about her experience working in the film, she added, “It’s been a really, really gratifying journey so far. It’s long. He takes a long time to make movies. It’s been almost 14 months, but you know, it’s going to be really special. The journey of it has also been special,” she said. Sharing a few behind-the-scenes anecdotes, the actress shared that she brought her daughter, Malti Marie Chopra Jonas, to Hyderabad for the first time, fondly recalling how the little one enjoyed spending time with animals at S. S. Rajamouli’s farm.
