Veteran actor Rishi Kapoor breathed his last today in a Mumbai hospital. The news of his death was confirmed by Amitabh Bachchan. 67-year-old, Rishi was rushed to HN Reliance hospital last night. His wife Neetu Kapoor Singh was by his side. Later it was confirmed that he has been hospitalised for over a week.

Confirming the news of Rishi’s death, Amitabh Bachchan took to his Twitter handle and wrote, “T 3517 – He’s GONE .. ! Rishi Kapoor .. gone .. just passed away .. I am destroyed !(sic)”

Rishi Kapoor too has been battling cancer since the last one and half years. He had been to the US for over a year for his cancer treatment. The ‘Bobby’ actor had returned to India in last September from New York. His family had refrained from revealing exactly what kind of cancer he was diagnosed with.

Last night when reports of him rushed to Mumbai hospital came out, his elder brother Randhir Kapoor confirmed the news while speaking to indianexpress.com. He said, “He is hospitalised. Neetu is by his side. He is not well.

Just after the death of Irrfan Khan, this is yet another blow to the Hindi film industry. Rishi is survived by his wife Neetu, son Ranbir and daughter Riddhima Kapoor Sahni.
