Dadlani posted a video on his Instagram where the ink on his finger was barely visible. He explained that he hadn’t tried to remove it and mentioned that he often uses sanitiser after shaking hands. “This is definitely not indelible ink,” he stated, questioning its authenticity. He also captioned the post, “Can confirm, this was definitely not indelible ink. Happy to make an official statement if needed.”

Vishal Dadlani SLAMS Low Voter Turnout At BMC 2026 Elections

Earlier that day, after voting, Dadlani expressed disappointment over the low voter turnout at the polling booth. Speaking to the media outside the polling station, he called the situation “shameful” and said he had stopped encouraging people to vote because of widespread apathy. “There’s hardly anyone here. More officials than voters. It’s embarrassing. Every Indian should feel upset about this. If we don’t take responsibility, such situations will persist,” he remarked. He emphasised the importance of elections for democracy and hoped that the city’s situation would improve.

About Indelible Ink Controversy

In response to concerns raised by citizens and opposition parties about the use of permanent markers to fake voting, the Maharashtra State Election Commission issued a clarification. On Thursday, they stated that attempting to remove the ink to vote again is a punishable offence. The SEC warned that strict legal action would be taken against anyone caught trying to vote multiple times by tampering with the ink.

The commission reassured voters that even if the ink is removed, they cannot vote a second time, as official records prevent duplicate voting. They also instructed all election officials to stay vigilant at polling stations to ensure a fair and smooth voting process, reissuing guidelines to prevent any misuse.
