Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri, Bhushan Kumar Confirm Film Based On Operation Sindoor

Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri is set to direct a film based on Operation Sindoor, inspired by Lt Gen KJS Dhillon’s book, Operation Sindoor: The Untold Story of India’s Deep Strikes Inside Pakistan. The project comes in the wake of reports that Agnihotri will helm a film depicting India’s military response to the terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam in April 2025.

In an interview with HT City, Vivek described the story as both urgent and essential. “I’ve always believed in telling stories that are uncomfortable but necessary. My goal is to present this story of courage, professionalism, and strategic clarity with authenticity, while also crafting an edge-of-the-seat cinematic experience,” he explained.

The film will be co-produced by Vivek’s I Am Buddha Production and Bhushan Kumar’s T-Series. It will narrate a detailed account of the operation carried out from May 6 to May 10, 2025. Vivek added, “We’ve conducted extensive ground research in collaboration with various branches of the Armed Forces to understand not just what happened, but how and why it happened. The story that emerges is far more complex and precise than what’s publicly known.”

Bhushan Kumar described the project as more than just a retelling. “Some stories choose you,” he said. “Operation Sindoor is one such story. When a nation experiences events of this magnitude, it’s crucial to document them truthfully.”

Details regarding the cast and release date are yet to be announced.
