Priyanka Chopra to receive Dadasaheb Phalke Academy Award

If we take a closer look at the past few years of actress Priyanka Chopra’s career, she has definitely risen to prominence and has established her name internationally. With projects like TV series ‘Quantico’ and her recently released Hollywood debut film ‘Baywatch’, the actress has achieved her much-needed international acclaim. And now, we have something to add to her already growing list of accolades. The prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Academy Award has introduced a new category named Internationally Acclaimed Actress Award. And guess who is going to be the first recipient of the same? None other than, Priyanka Chopra.

Confirming this good news, Ashok Shekhar, the chairman of the DadaSaheb Phalke Award committee said, “Yes, we have decided to introduce a fresh category in the awards list —Internationally Acclaimed Actress Award. There are no two ways about the fact that Priyanka Chopra is the only actress who truly deserves this award. She has consented for the same.” [sic]

In fact, it’s a double victory for the actress as her first home production Marathi film ‘Ventilator’ will also be honoured at the awards ceremony. The movie was produced by Priyanka along with her mother Dr. Madhu Chopra.

Reports suggest that the ceremony will take place on June 1.

Well, we could only say that Priyanka deserves this honour and we hope that it adds more power to her confidence.
