Veteran writer-director Sagar Sarhadi passed away at his Mumbai residence today (March 22). He was 88 years old. He was not well for the last few months and was reportedly been admitted to the ICU due to a heart problem. He was known for his work on films like Bazaar, Noorie, Kabhi Kabhie, Silsila, Chandni, Deewana and Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai. ANI confirmed the news with the tweet that read: “Veteran writer-director Sagar Sarhadi passes away in Mumbai.”

From Hrithik Roshan, Jackie Shroff, Javed Akhtar to Hansal Mehta, many celebs took to their social media handles to mourn the death of Sagar Sarhadi.

“Saddened by the passing of Sagar Sarhadi ji. I will forever be indebted for his contribution as the dialogue writer for Kaho Naa Pyar Hai. My thoughts, prayers and condolences to his family. Om shanti,” tweeted Hrithik Roshan.

Javed Akhtar wrote, “Sagar Sarhadi a veteran theater and film writer who wrote films like Kabhi Kabhi, Noori and directed Baazaar has passed away. My heartfelt condolences to the late bachelor’s nephew Ramesh Talwar (sic).”

Jackie Shroff posted a black and white picture of the scriptwriter on his Instagram handle and wrote, “Will miss you…R.I.P”.

Hansal Mehta wrote, “Rest in peace Sagar Sarhadi saahab.”

Anubhav Sinha also condoled the death of Sarhadi. He wrote, “RIP Sagar Sarhadi. What a legacy”.

Sagar Sarhadi rose to fame for his dialogues for Kabhi Kabhie that starred Amitabh Bachchan, late actor Shashi Kapoor, Raakhee, Waheeda Rehman, late actor Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh. He also won the Filmfare Award for Best Dialogue for his work.
