Zaira Wasim again grabbed the headlines for her social media post. She brought the angle of religion to justify locust attacks and floods in India. By quoting a Quran verse, she tweeted, “So We sent upon them the flood and locusts and lice and frogs and blood: Signs openly self explained: but they were steeped in arrogance- a people given to sin – Qur’an 7:133. (sic).” This didn’t go down well with the netizens and Twitterati slammed her for the tweet. After receiving backlash, Zaira deleted both her Twitter and Instagram accounts.

After she deleted her Twitter and Instagram handles, fans of the actress come out in support of her and started trending hashtags #StandWithZaira and #StandWithZairaWasim on Twitter. It started trending on the top.
