Ajay Devgn

The fourth instalment of Rohit Shetty’s famous franchise ‘Golmaal’ had made it to the theatres today. Titled ‘Golmaal Again’, the film has an ensemble cast of Ajay Devgn, Arshad Warsi, Parineeti Chopra, Kunal Kemmu, Shreyas Talpade, Tusshar Kapoor and Tabu. Being a Diwali release, we had expected the film to be a hit, but we weren’t expecting ‘Golmaal Again’ to be a blockbuster on its first day itself. Going by the statistics, one can easily say that ‘Golmaal Again’ has received the biggest opening of the year 2017 in terms of first day occupancy. Of course, leaving aside ‘Baahubali 2’ which was technically a South film dubbed in Hindi. Ajay Devgn’s last film ‘Baadshaho’ may not have worked at the box office, but with ‘Golmaal Again’ he has managed to leave behind mighty Khans like Shah Rukh and Salman.

While the first day occupancy of ‘Golmaal Again’ was 67.5%, for Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Raees’ was 50%. Salman Khan’s  ‘Tubelight’ was as low as 37.5%. Ajay has definitely taken the lead in this case. But you never know! Tables can turn in the coming day just as it did for Varun Dhawan’s ‘Judwaa 2’. The first day occupancy of ‘Judwaa 2’ was merely 35% but then it went on to become one of the highest grossers of this year.

Let’s see what fate holds for ‘Golmaal Again’ in coming days.
